Bodybuilding Mistakes
That You Should Avoid Making

Bodybuilding is a science which people from all over the world engage in. Some people do it in order to have a better looking body, while others do it for health reasons. Either way, you will see that bodybuilding is a win-win situation where you have everything to gain and nothing to lose except for that flab on your stomach.

However, regardless of where you are from, you will see that there are a lot of bodybuilders out there that make the same mistakes when they are exercising or bodybuilding. These mistakes can be quite costly as they can potentially seriously injure you, which can be counterproductive to your goals.

The first mistake is that people often base their improvements on the scales. They will often check their weight only in order to determine if they are improving. However, although the scales may tell you that you are losing or gaining weight, they don't't tell you whether you are losing or gaining muscles or fat. The best judge for your improvement is the mirror and a body fat caliper ...also known as skin fold caliper. In this case, you really need to see it to believe it.

Another mistake is focusing on the weight only instead of the proper execution of the exercise. On a good day at the gym, you may do 3 sets of bench presses with 10 repetitions each. However, the next time you do this, you weren't eating properly the day before and you haven't had enough rest or sleep.

However, you are still determined to do the bench press with the routine, such as same weight, same reps and same sets. Anyway, you realize that on the last set, you only barely able to make 5 repetitions. In order to prevent losing face at the gym, what you do is arch your back to let the bar bounce off your chest and use momentum to get the barbell up. Although you did complete the entire set, what you actually did is cheat. By cheating like this, you are not actually making your muscles work harder as you used the inertia or the momentum to lift the weight instead of using your muscles.

It is very important for you to properly execute the exercise. This will prevent injury and help you gain muscles much more effectively.

Another mistake that many bodybuilders do is they tend to stick to a program for a very long time. You have to remember that this will often result in what bodybuilders call the plateau. This is when your body gets used to the routine so much that it ceases to further improve. Always make it a point to change your program every 3 weeks or so in order to shock your muscles and help them to develop more. You can do this by changing the exercises, altering the amount of repetitions, and even increase the amount of weights.

These are just some of the many mistakes that you should remember about bodybuilding and how you can avoid them. Remember this, and you will be sure that you will be able to avoid making the same mistakes as many bodybuilders do.
